"Embroidery Skills" - 17th August 2026
Christine Finlayson will be running a hand embroidery workshop on the 17th August. If you want to learn embroidery stitches, or embellish a project with embroidery, or make your own fabric to embroider before making into something special, this could be the workshop for you. Christine will contact you before the workshop to find out what you would like to do to enhance your hand embroidery journey. Timing: 10am - 4pm, £55 per person per session.
Workshop from 10am - 4pm on Monday 17th August 2026.
Workshops will be held at the The Old Bakehouse Gallery/Tearoom, High Street, Aberlady, East Lothian, EH32 0RB
I am a Textile Artist coming from a dressmaking background. I tutor dressmaking in Penicuik, Stirling and Aberlady.
In 2003 I attended Jewel and Esk Valley College in Edinburgh completing a short course in Historical Heirlooms for which I was awarded a Highly Commended Certificate. Wanting to further my embroidery journey further I embarked on a City & Guilds Creative Embroidery Diploma Course at Edinburgh Telford College for the next three years. I then joined Stitch Business to do a Masterclass in Durham. I have also been going to a master class in Cambridge to further my ambition to keep learning.
I have been teaching dressmaking, pattern cutting, trouser making etc at Pembertons sewing center in Stirling for the past 25 years
Requirements list:
Please bring your sewing kit, embroidery needles.
Refreshments available all day, please bring a packed lunch.
Christine will email you prior to the workshop date to establish what you wish to embroider.
